Thunberg's decisive actions began in August 2018. The school was closed and she erected an announcement that read "School Strike For Climate and calmly was seated outside of the Swedish parliament. The idea was to get the politicians' attention and encourage them to intervene to stop the global warming. Swedish media covered Thunbergs actions and the news spread. The following weeks, students all around took part in Thunberg's #FridaysforFuture movement. Students took Friday off in protest against global warming. Climate activists from across the globe came together to organize the very initial Global Strike for Climate. It was an enormous success. More than 1.6 million participants from 125 nations took part.
