Arike Ogunbowale
Arike Ogunbowale is an American pro basketball player with the Dallas Wings of the Women's National Basketball Association. She was a college basketball player with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, prior to being selected by the Wings as the 5th overall selection of the 2019 WNBA draft. Arike Ogunbowale was born on the 2nd March, 1997 in Milwaukee Wisconsin to parents Yolanda and Gregory Ogunbowale. Mario Ogunbowale, who is 26 years old, is her brother, and Dare Ogunbowale, 20 years old. As the youngest of her siblings she was the one who was most spoilt by her parents. Gregory, her father, was involved in the Nigerian Army quite a while. Ogunbowale grew up in a busy family. Her mother Yolanda and brother Dare both played softball while at DePaul. The aunt she played with was a volleyball player for UAPB in the past, and Endia is a volleyball player on the team at Tennessee State. Ogunbowale appeared on the Honor Roll at her school for three consecutive years. While in high school, Ogunbowale received numerous awards and has was recognized as a celebrity. Arike received her diploma in Divine Savior Holy Angels High School which is located in the city of her birth. As a student at the school, she also participated in three seasons of varsity soccer. Ogunbowale's outstanding skills led to her school capturing stunning victories repeatedly. She has 73 high school start in her career, Ogunbowale is averaging 1,477 point and 739 rebounds. Ogunbowale won gold medals during the 2013 FIBA Americas U16 Championship, 2014 FIBA U17 World Championship, as well as the 2013 FIBA 3x3 U18 Championship. On July 7, 2014, Ogunbowale was selected to the USA Youth Olympic Women's Basketball Team. Ogunbowale was also named to the ACC All-Freshman Team following her first year of collegiate basketball.
